The Traveling Bag of Kindness was started in 2016 by then 10 year old Olivia Dudas. Through the Traveling Bag of Kindness, we are able to bring the community together to help children in need. We collect items that children from ages 0-18 would need. We distribute the Traveling Bags to four charities.
The Traveling Bag of Kindness was established in 2016 by Olivia Dudas. At the time, Olivia was 10 years old. She wanted to help children in need in her town. The Traveling Bag of Kindness provides you with a large gift bag. You then take the gift bag and fill it with what you feel would benefit a child from the age of 0 to 18. After you put your items in the bag, you can pass it on to a trusted friend. The bag continues to collect blessings as it travels along. The bag travels until it is full and then returned for distribution. The bag needs to be returned by December 20th.
In 2020 and 2021, the Traveling Bag of Kindness went virtual. Traveling Baggers helped out by ordering online and having their items be delivered directly to their charity of choice. The website helped them reach the charities' donation pages. Find out more about virtual donations from the several websites that are linked on the Home page.
2020 - many donations were delivered as the Traveling Bag of Kindness went virtual due to the pandemic.
2019 - 250 bags, 2 boxes of books, and 62 coats.
2018 - 167 bags, 3 boxes of books, a giant coloring mat, a Big Wheel, 6 giant bags of women's clothes, and 33 coats.
2017 - 104 bags, 5 boxes of books, 1 box of diapers, 2 boxes of Christmas decorations, and 7 giant bags of women's clothes.

All of the items that are collected are distributed to Communities in Schools of Wayne County, Genesis of Richmond, Inc., JACY House, and Riley Hospital for Children.
